Been There, Done that, Said that, Let’s Share

You know that saying, been there, done that? Every year when Breast Cancer Awareness Month rolls around now, that phrase pops into my head. As I reflected on BCAM and how to close it out this year here on the blog, I decided to write a post with that title, okay, an expanded version of that title. What’s my point? It’s this. Sometimes it seems like I’ve written (as have many others) about the same pink shenanigans year after year. It’s exhausting.

And still, what’s changed?

I don’t know the answer.

Maybe more than any of us realize has changed due to the ever increasing number of bloggers’, advocates’ and patients’ voices (and others) out there who have expressed discontent with Pink Ribbon Fantasy Land and all the ridiculous stuff that goes on year after year during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and beyond.

But perhaps a bit a lot of repetition is still necessary and likely will be for the foreseeable future.

Been there, done that, said that!

Instead of reinventing the wheel, I decided to share links to some posts of Pinktobers Past in which I have been there, done that, said that. Sift through. Read. Re-read. Share one or two. Or not. And then it’s YOUR turn to share!

Here are a few posts I selected that are not included in my free ebook ( see link below):

Hi, Nancy! I recently discovered your blog and look forward to reading more. I'm a newbie to BC (diagnosed last Nov) so this is my first "official" BCAM. I guess I'm still in the "honeymoon phase" and therefore have a slightly take on BCAM, perhaps a little naive, so this is what I wrote that's related. I've recently learned however about the importance of giving toward metastatic research vs. awareness and will forevermore be mindful of that! Have a great weekend.

This gives me a grim chuckle at the end of a very long day! I'm just so tired of being the broken record. Just....ugh! I'm done, I'm over it!

Ellie, Thank you for your kind words. I thought there was a box to check to get notified, but maybe not. I'm not entirely sure. I guess you have to check back now and then. Sorry for this inconvenience. Thanks again!
