Getting Past the Fear, An Update & a Giveaway too!

Getting Past the Fear, An Update & a Giveaway too!

I am excited to offer all of you, my dear readers, a chance to win a FREE copy of my book, Getting Past the Fear:  A Guide to Help You Mentally Prepare for Chemotherapy. For details on how to be part of this giveaway, keep reading. Getting Past the Fear has been in print for one year, so this is a way for me to say thank you for all your support.

I realize many of you are done with chemo, never had chemo, or are dealing with it for the long haul; but I’m hoping even if this is the case, you will want to get your hands on a copy and donate it to your local cancer center or support group library. I’m biased of course, but I fervently believe my book belongs in cancer centers everywhere. It’s a must read for anyone facing chemo for the first time.

Thank you to all who’ve already helped by donating a copy to their cancer centers and to those of you who are considering doing so. Yours truly is the author, marketing director and publicist as well, so I continue to rely on your help to get the word out. Again, thank you!

It means a lot to me to have my book featured and recommended on reputable sites such as BreastCancer.org, CureDiva and Someone With. Of course, it’s also available at Barnes & Noble and Amazon in both print and Kindle/Ipad format. Click here for additional information and be sure to read the wonderful testimonials too.

Once again, I want to thank all of you who’ve written testimonials, reviews and blog posts on your blogs about my book. I am grateful.

I wish I could give away a hundred copies, but I’ll have to settle for a handful. Dear hubby just rolls his eyes (he’s actually totally supportive) when I keep giving copies away. It’s never been about book profits, but rather about helping others facing chemo for the first time.

I haven’t made up my mind how many copies I’ll be giving away with this giveaway, so be sure to enter!

Finally, if any of you have read my book, please consider writing a review on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Cure Diva, Someone With or share a comment on my blog’s My Book page with your thoughts about it.

I am proud of how well my book has been received by those who’ve read it. The challenge for me is getting the word out so it can be read by those who might benefit. This is why I still need and very much appreciate your help.

So, thank you!

To enter this giveaway, simply leave a comment stating you want to be included by 5 pm Wednesday, April 22nd, and you’re in! Winners will be announced shortly thereafter on this post. To receive a hard copy, you will need a USA address for this giveaway. I will, however, offer a pdf format to anyone outside the USA who enters and whose name is drawn.

Sign up for my emails/newletters here. There’s a separate giveaway going on right now exclusively for subscribers. And yes, you are welcome to participate via my email/newsletter AND this post. In fact, you should! I will include anyone who’s signed up for my emails/newsletters by April 25th in that drawing. All you have to do is email me and let me know you wish to be included.

If you’ve had chemo, what resource did you find most helpful?

What’s your go-to book for any cancer related issues you have?

Hi Nancy,

I have one of your wonderful books, but I'd love to be entered so I can give a copy to my cancer care center. This is a wonderful resource. When I was going through chemotherapy, I really didn't have good resources. There were a bunch of pamphlets on what to expect, but nothing that explained things well. I'm glad that today's patients can get your book.

Beth, Thanks again for writing such a nice testimonial for my book and for all your ongoing support. It means a lot. And I agree, those pamphlets just don't cut it.

I would have loved to have had some insight into what was going to happen to me during chemotherapy. It was just me and my husband going it alone. It would be helpful to give it to a friend who will going through this soon. Please enter me in your giveaway.

Belinda, Even though I had experienced chemo from a daughter's viewpoint, when you're going to have it yourself, it's entirely different. Good luck to your friend. I'm sure you'll be a wonderful support person for her and thank you for participating in my giveaway.

Nancy, I just bought your book! If I am a winner from the contest, I will donate one to my hospital (Sloan).

You asked what was helpful to us when we received our chemo. To me it was reaching out to other women who had walked the path. I actually received a lot more tips from other women than my own Doctors. They don't really tell you everything to expect, in detail, or what to do to help prevent it.

I didn't have a "go to" book related specifically to cancer, BUT I had two books my honey purchased since he was my caregiver. I will eventually share some recipes on my blog of the types of foods that helped me.

Here are the books: "Big Book of Juices" and "Cancer Fighting Kitchen," which was specifically made for breast cancer patients.

I will be writing a review after reading your book.

Good luck to you!!

Rebecca, Thank you for purchasing a copy to donate. I would so love to see my book in cancer center libraries everywhere. Thank you for sharing two recipe-type books. I wrote a review once for another good one called, "Kicking Cancer in the Kitchen." Here's the link: http://nancyspoint.com/kicking-cancer-in-the-kitchen-a-review-giveaway/ Thank you so much for saying you will write a review for my book. That's so kind of you and much appreciated. I look forward to reading it. Thank you for entering my giveaway.
