Happy Holidays from Nancy’s Point!

Happy Holidays from Nancy’s Point!

It’s time to close out another year here on the blog. Hard to believe 2018 will soon be over, right? Where did the time go? Or maybe you cannot wait to say goodbye to 2018. Regardless, 2018 is just about in the books.

Many thanks for reading my 50 or so rambles and rants this year. Your loyal readership is something I never take for granted. I know there are a ton of blogs out there (I read somewhere there are over 150 million!) and only so many minutes in a day to read a few.

So, thank you for choosing to read mine.

I cannot wait to start another year of writing, commiserating with you, advocating, learning, sharing, ranting and keeping it real. I invite you to share in the comments what you’d like to read more about in the New Year. And less of as well. (Yes, I really want to know.)

Until 2019 rolls around…

Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday filled with whatever makes you happy.

If you’re struggling due to whatever reason, I wish for you at least moments of peace and contentment in the days ahead. May it help to know others care about you. I care about you.

I see you. I hear you, and I care about what you have to say.

Happy Holidays!

See you in 2019!

What would you like to read more of in 2019?

Less of?

How are you closing out 2018?

Nancy, I recently bought and read your book, and loved it! Your honesty was so refreshing. I am currently on Arimidex, and experiencing the side effects you mentioned. I used to walk 4 miles with no problem, now I find myself struggling to get one mile in. My joints are hurting some, my skin tingles, and my lower back sometimes gives me issues. I bring this up to my oncologists, and they dismiss it. So I have decided to take a break and see how I feel. I'm not asking first, just doing it. I think you gave me the courage to make the decision, thank you very much. Been having issues with my internet provider, so it may be some time before I can get back here , but I really want to thank you for providing this site for us.

Lynda, First of all, thank you so much for the feedback on my book. I appreciate hearing that you liked it. Will you consider writing a review on Amazon? That'd be great if you could. More importantly, I am sorry you are experiencing those side effects from Arimidex. Believe me, I understand. Sometimes a break is needed or sometimes just switching meds makes a huge difference. It did for me. I am working on putting together an AI EGuide right now, so be sure to check back often as I think I'll publish it in a blog post. You might find it helpful. Thank you for reading and sharing. I'm so glad you find my blog helpful. Best wishes for 2019!

2018 ended with good news for me. Five years cancer free. No more check-ups, except for the cardiologist and regular MD. I celebrated with a lovely tour over Christmas to Portugal. I am still on five medications for chemo caused Congestive Heart Failure that I live with, and have learned to pace myself to maximize the little energy I do have.

2019 is opening up a new path as I pursue a way of eating that is plant-based and nutrient dense. I purchased two books, Kitchen Matters by Pamela Salzman and Raw-Vitalize by Mimi Kirk, to propel me forward on this new odyssey sparked by the book Eat to Live by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. I am thrilled with each new idea, each bit of nutritional knowledge, each instructional video, and each blossoming skill.

Thank you so much, Nancy, for your blog, this safe haven where we can come to be seen and heard, where our situations are acknowledged, not pitied or ignored or minimized or pontificated on, where we are not subjected to the tyranny and cruelty of expected positivity, where support is abundant, and where emotions find release through expression.

The best to you in 2019, Nancy, with my sincerest thanks, for all your work, much needed in the blogosphere. Honey Bee

Honey Bee, I am so glad to hear about that good news, and I like how you chose to celebrate! Good for you for pursuing a new plan for a way of eating that feels right for you. You sound really excited and enthused about it, and I wish you all the best with it. Thank you for your kind words about the blog. You expressed exactly what I wish for this place to be. So thank you. The best to you in 2019 too! May the new year be kind to us all.

Secret Agent Woman, I'm sure there were many collective sighs of relief at year's end for making it through another year. Focusing on regaining your health and gratitude sounds like a good plan for 2019. My best to you and thank you for sharing. And thank you for the holiday greeting too. Hope yours was lovely.

I just subscribed and look forward to your blogs and comments from the community. I was informed of my breast cancer diagnosis one year ago, 12/21/17. NED at present, but I am also suffering from AI side effects. I was on letrozole (Femara) first, for 8 months, then (as directed by my med onc, started anastrozole (Arimidex) 25 days ago. The same side effects returned (after feeling better with only 10 days off!), and now I have decided to take a 2 week break over Christmas and a short trip out of state to visit my son. Yes, I’m concerned about doing this so quickly after the recent break between meds, but decided I need to feel better now, and return to compliance in January. ALSO, I have had 3 tumor marker tests (CA 27-29) since Feb 1, all higher than the prior one. I am concerned as the nurse practitioner told me I would have a PET scan if the last one was higher. Then the oncologist said he thought I was just going to “run high.” But, I repeat the test 6 weeks after the last one. It is difficult waiting for ”the next test.” Thank you for listening.

Sharon, Thank you for reading and subscribing too. I'm sorry you've been suffering from some nasty side effects from AI meds. Sometimes a break can be helpful. Such decisions are up to you alone. My oncologist doesn't do tumor marker tests, so I can't really speak to that. It's not standard practice to use them as they are not necessarily reliable indicators. But your worry is understandable and yes, waiting can be difficult. Good luck with everything, and I'm always happy to listen. Thanks for sharing.
