Thank You For Reading Nancy’s Point!

Thank You For Reading Nancy’s Point!

Blogging was never in my plans, but then again, neither was breast cancer. (Gosh, I should probably write a post on that!). As I wrote about before, I keep blogging because at this point in time I can’t imagine not blogging. This blog is my safe place, my go to place where I can say/write things that are hard for me to say elsewhere. I like that. I need that.

This is not to say I don’t talk about the topics I write about with my family and friends (although admittedly, some of them I don’t).

It’s more due to the fact that just as it’s probably true with your family, my family is busy with the business of living. Life goes on. Stuff happens. Schedules are hectic. Things of the mundane and sometimes things of the extraordinary happen and must be tended to. We don’t sit around talking about cancer stuff all the time or even that often.

But I still want to do that. I still need to do that.

And so no matter how busy my life gets, this blog is my safe haven where I can freely do that.

This blog is where I share, vent, rant, create, explore, connect, advocate, grieve, educate (hopefully), heal, ramble, opinionate, make friends, support, get support, be understood, learn and grow as a writer/person/advocate to name a few things.

This blog is like therapy for me. You, dear readers, are my therapists. You read. You listen. You validate. You understand. You motivate. You share. You get it. You do more than you realize!

Sure, sometimes you disagree too, but that only makes things more interesting, right?

And you are always out there 24/7.

What could be better than that?

So, I’d like to say a great big thank you to all of you who read Nancy’s Point regularly, or just when the mood strikes you. A special thanks to those of who who’ve been hanging around since the beginning (you know who you are!) and still choose to read my ramblings on a regular basis!

I am grateful to all my readers. I am grateful for YOU. I truly am.

Thank you for reading Nancy’s Point!

How many blogs do you read regularly?

Why do you read blogs?

Hi Nancy - I read about 10 blogs on a regular basis, and dip in and out of at least another 20 as well. I'm drawn to blogs that give clear, concise and non-judgemental information about their own experiences with breast cancer. I'm not an angry person, even after my own experience with BC, so prefer to read people who use their blogs to express the way the experience has shaped their lives. I found it to be really helpful to read other BC blogs while I was going through my own process; I learned so much about chemo, the various types of BC and the reconstruction process through other very big-hearted and honest bloggers. I'll always be grateful to them for the fact that they shared so much personal information (especially about reconstruction which is such a tough thing to navigate) and try to give back in the same way with my own blog. I'm new to your blog (found you on Twitter) and am looking forward to receiving your updates. Thanks for blogging! Best, Claudia

Claudia, Welcome! Isn't Twitter great? I love writing my own blog and reading blogs others write. Both are pretty addicting, well for me anyway. Wish I had time to read more of them. I learn a lot about varying perspectives on not only cancer, but a lot of other things as well. Thanks for reading and commenting and again, welcome.

Thank you for writing, Nancy. I blog for the same reasons you do, and I can't imagine not blogging, in fact. I read a lot of blogs, but it's not always easy to fit the time in. Yet, I'm drawn to reading these blogs because they validate my experience and teach me things too.

xoxo Beth

Beth, I wish I had time to read more too, but then I'd never get my own posts written! I love the validation and understanding that happens via all the terrific blogs out there. The community created is a wonderful thing. You'd think we'd get tired of reading and sharing about cancer, but we don't - or at least I don't. Thanks so much for being such a loyal reader and friend.

dear Nancy,

I missed your 3rd year blogging post - so happy, happy 3rd blogaversary! xxoo

I love your blog, I love your energy, I love the thought provoking questions you raise, I love your rants, your compassion, your kindness, and wonderful sense of humor.

I don't remember which post was my favorite - only that it was the one where I was commenting for the first time on "Nancy's Point", and you responded to that comment with such warmth, empathy, and made me feel so welcomed - it was the post/comment/response that "clicked" and helped us form such a beautiful connection! as you know, my life has taken many twists and turns over a short period of time. you have always been there for me, and it is my great pleasure to be here for you.

much love and light, my friend, XOXOXOXO

Nancy, I am so happy for you and your blog not only because you have useful and interesting things to say but because you keep blogging! I am a year + into blogging and love it so much. Sometimes I worry that I will run out of things to write about. Then I think about you and I feel great encouragement for my blog writing future!

Elizabeth, Gosh, you're making me feel like an old timer! Ha. Just kidding. I'm glad you are finding blogging to be rewarding too. It's a wonderful vehicle for self-expression, sharing, making new friends, learning and a whole lot more. I'm so glad you are part of it all! And it's funny, I don't really worry about running out of things to say... Hopefully this is a good thing! Thanks so much for your comment.

Nancy,

While I am unable to blog as often as I would like, I too write very much for myself. I am in AWE and humbled that anyone at all finds it useful! I also write as a means of staying connected with the amazing online breast cancer community, hoping that I might pay some tidbits forward in exchange for all that I have learned! Keep writing - even if I don't comment I'm still reading!

Lori, I feel the same way when someone finds what I write to be useful. It's very humbling and also very gratifying and yes, also motivating for me to keep on keepin' on. Thanks so much for reading and commenting when you can, Lori. It's always great to hear from you.
